Meet your coach!

Jill Taylor Rose is a native Kentuckian and has been swimming and coaching swimming for over two decades. She started swimming at age 12 for her town’s USA year round team. She excelled in the sport, qualifying for the Kentucky State meet in both long and short course annually. Jill also began teaching swim lessons around this time, helping her develop her love for stroke technique.

Jill swam and coached swimming all through high school and college. She graduated from Transylvania University where she served as head coach to the Andover Country Club Swim Team for 3 years, taught swim lessons, coached swim camps, and served as a coach for the Universities stroke technique camps. Jill was an All-American all four years in multiple events, was voted the recipient of the 100% award, and the Character Award at University’s Regional swim meet. She served as the women’s team captain for 2 years along with her now husband who captained the men’s team for 3 years. She also held the school record in 100 butterfly for many years as well as the 200 and 400 Medley Relay.

Jill continued to swim for love of the sport through her families moves and children being born. She found her way back to the pool in 2016 where she served and the Swim Lesson Coordinator for the North Rutherford YMCA outside of Nashville and became one of their Water Aerobics Instructors. She later became the center’s Aquatics Director spending her days training lifeguards, training swim instructors, developing the swim lesson program to be one of the top in the association, and training triathletes during stroke technique clinics. She continued to teach Water Aerobics as well.

The family moved back to Kingsport in February of 2018 where Jill began teaching Water Aerobics for the Kingsport Aquatics Center. She is now living in Kingsport with her husband J. Chris Rose who works at West and Rose law firm, her 7 year old daughter EB who will be starting 1st grade this year, her 5 year old son Parker who will be starting kindergarten this year, and their youngest, Evelyn “Bitsy” who is 2 ½.

Jill is beyond honored to be a part of the Kingsport Master’s Program and very excited for things to come!
