Private Lessons

The Kingsport Aquatic Center is temporarily closed for infrastructure upgrades and guest improvements – a project aimed to secure the long-term future success of the facility.

All pools will be closed during this shutdown, except for the Outdoor Lap Pool. Locker rooms will not be available during the shutdown.

The Outdoor Lap Pool will be open 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for lap swim and personal exercise during the shutdown (except September 14). This schedule is subject to change and will be reevaluated weekly.

Private Classes

Available for kids 3 years and older. All lessons will be one-on-one with a certified Water Safety Instructor. No refunds or make up days are allowed for missed lessons. Swim lessons are set dates and will take place on the days and times you sign up for. View our full swim lesson policies and procedures by clicking here.

Interpreters are available for guests with hearing impairment. To ensure proper service and scheduling, please call (423)343-9763 or email JessieCharlton@KingsportTN.gov at least seven (7) days prior to the event date to request interpreter services.

Interpreter services are available at no cost in accordance with Title VI.

Prices for Weekday Private lessons (Eight 30 minute lessons):

Prices are for Saturday Private lessons (Four 30 minute lessons):

Participants taking swim lessons must have a current active KAC membership or YMCA membership in order to receive the KAC or YMCA discount rate. Season pass holders are not included in this KAC discount.

Semi-Private Classes

Available for kids 3 years and older. Semi-private lessons will be two participants with a certified Water Safety Instructor. Participants in semi-private lessons must be close in age and skill level when registered for lessons (no more then 1.5 year age gap). No refunds or make up days are allowed for missed lessons. Closure

Southern Watershapes Inc., will be performing this improvement project for the city, which will include the following:

  • Five pools will receive new plaster, updated tile, edge treatments, guttering improvements and new filtration components.
  • Pump room upgrades will include replacement and updates to chlorine lines and related mechanical components.
  • All main drains throughout the facility will receive new compliant drain covers.
  • Indoor slide will receive a new gel coat finish and updated structural paint.
  • Indoor splash pad spray features will receive updates and improvements.
  • Outdoor leisure pool and play structure will receive updated paint and new plexiglass components.

The KAC plans to reopen the facility in January. A reopening update will be provided to the public in December.
